Christmas is a special holiday for us all. People getting presents for their dearest ones, spending time with their families, going on big family lunches… which of course requires special vocabulary. Hantec, Brno’s secret language
If you’ve spent at least a short while in Brno, even if it was just a short visit, you couldn’t have missed the fact that apart from the standard Czech language we happen to use an awesome and sometimes undecipherable slang as well.
For instance I’m sure you haven’t heard a Brno-born utter the word “tramvaj” for a tram. A true Brno soul would always say “šalina“.
Study Czech Friday: An Evening with Guitar
To sit down for a while with a guitar, have a chat with friends and sing – this is what almost every Czech likes. Before the Christmas madness starts, come to a nontraditional Czech lesson and enjoy a traditional Czech evening with guitar.
Win a book of fairy tales
Do you think your Czech is good? Lets have a stroll around a “Czech” market and try to correct signs. The first foreigner who sends us all the signs corrected can pick up a book of fairy tales by Lída Holá at our office.
Study Czech Friday: A stroll around Brno centre
Take an evening stroll around the centre of the Moravian capital with us on the first day of November and explore places of interest and hidden secrets of Brno which you probably haven’t noticed yet.
Exaggerate, when you learn new vocabulary
“Exaggerate, when you learn new vocabulary,” says Petra – a teacher of Czech for Foreigners at university in Napoli, Italy. We are glad that she was teaching at Study Czech during this summer.
Study Czech Friday with a smell of coffee
We have decided to move our Study Czech Fridays to the streets of Brno. And we are starting on 20th of September! In collaboration with Káva Malena, we are going to combine our Czech lesson with a specialty coffee tasting. Be there to take part!
Intensive summer courses in August
