We would like to invite you to our Study Czech Friday event – about “Autumn flowers”. We are going to speak about flowers and make your own bouquets which you can take home (or maybe give it to someone?). And of course, we are going to practise your Czech.

Where? Café Podnebí, open-air cinema on Špilberk
Price: the ticket to the cinema costs 100 CZK

What are you going to do on Friday 02/08? We are at next summer Study Czech Friday event! You can have a chat in Czech in Café Podnebí and watch a new Czech historical drama “Toman” with us in the open-air cinema on Špilberk.

Study Czech Friday Christmas Markets

Do you know what is one of the best things about winter in the Czech Republic? Christmas markets! A decorated Christmas tree, thousands of lights, a carved nativity scene, mulled wine or mead … When you speak Czech, it is even better!.

When? Friday 14/12 from 5:30pm
Where? Café V Melounovém cukru (Františkánská 17), afterwards at Christmas markets
Price: 50 CZK

We are going to meet in the café, where we are going to practise Czech words and phrases which you can use at Christmas markets. Then we’ll go to the Christmas markets to practise in the real life what you’ll have learnt.

Registration is closed. Thank you. However, you can try your Czech at Christmas markets alone with our handout.

Study Czech Friday BBQ

We would like to invite you to our Study Czech Friday event. More informal this time. We are going to barbecue, chat, play games and practise phrases which you can use at a summer BBQ party.

When? On Friday 27/07. We are starting at 5:30pm. The grill station is booked till 7:30pm. First come, more Czech served :)
Where? Lužánky Park (we have booked a public grill station there)
Bring some favourite food for BBQ and something to drink…

Věneček, kremrole, medovník… Do you understand? All of these are names of Czech sweets and candies. Věneček – pastry wreath, kremrole – cream roll, medovník – honey cake. Sounds tasty, right? Let´s try it. We would like to invite you all for Study Czech Friday at the sweet shop Kolbaba in the city center. You will learn how to order cake and coffee. We will be talking about sweets in general.

Study Czech Friday Martina’s Concert

Practise Czech with songs on our workshop and then at a concert.

Our lector Martina is not only a Czech teacher, but also a great musician (YouTube).
She has a concert in Brno on Monday 03/07 at Vaňkovka Fest, from 9:00pm in front of Vankovka shopping mall.

We also would like to make a small workshop with Martina’s songs before the concert. We are going to meet at 6.00pm in our school and then, after the workshop, we are going to the concert.

The price for the workshop is 100 czk/person (a small snack is included in the price not to be hungry on the concert:)). The concert is free of charge.

If you are interested in the workshop or just going to the concert with us, please, let us know (till Friday 30/06).

Study Czech Friday: How to fry a „smažák“ or A Practical Cooking Lesson in Czech

Do you like „knedliky“? What about „gulas“? „Svickova“? „Rizky“? Or „strudel“? Do you know any other Czech culinary specialities? In this Study Czech Friday lesson, we’re going to make one of the most common and popular dishes – fried cheese, AKA „smazak“!

Have you tried it? Can you make it? And how about „stouchane brambory“ and tartar sauce to go with it?

Preparing this classic dish will give us a chance to learn the Czech terms for basic ingredients and activities involved in cooking. After the lesson, you’ll have no trouble reading Czech recipes, no matter how complicated, and thus, bit by bit, can uncover the richness of Czech cuisine.

We will end the evening by tasting everything we’ve cooked, of course, accompanied by a selection of craft beers from small Czech breweries.

WHERE? We’ll meet at the lightbulb statue at Malinovskeho square at 5.45 p.m.

We are celebrating the Saint Martin’s Day on 11th November. According to folk tradition, snow begins to fall and winter starts that day. Weather is a great topic to start a conversation, therefore next Study Czech Friday lesson is all about the weather.

Weather is a favourite topic of conversation, not only for Brits. In our lesson, you are going to learn and practise vocabulary and phrases about weather to be able to start the conversation with anyone you just met.

Saint Martin’s day is also marked by a traditional golden-roasted goose and young, so-called Saint-Martin’s wine. We are going to taste everything in the nearby restaurant after the lesson.
